You often don't get to choose your moving date, chains and completion dates decide that for you, but when you do have some flexibility, timing makes a genuine difference to both price and how far in advance you need to book.
The busiest times
Summer (June to August) is the busiest season for house moves nationally, and locally we see the same pattern, school-year timing pushes a lot of family moves into this window. Fridays and the last few days of the month are the busiest points within any given week, month-end especially, because a lot of tenancies and completions cluster there.
If your date is flexible, a mid-month, midweek move (Tuesday to Thursday) is consistently the easiest to book at short notice and often comes with more schedule flexibility on our end too.
Quieter windows worth considering
Late autumn and January through early March tend to be quieter. It's not always comfortable weather for moving day, but if you can work around that, you'll usually get more choice of dates and, because we're less stretched, more flexibility if your date needs to shift at short notice.
How far ahead to book
For a summer weekend move, 6-8 weeks ahead is a sensible minimum, popular Saturdays in June and July can book out well before that. For a quieter midweek slot outside peak season, 2-3 weeks is often enough. If you're moving locally, within Windlesham or one of the nearby villages, being based here means we can sometimes fit in shorter-notice jobs that wouldn't work further afield, worth asking even if your timeline is tight.
